Mike Gundy threw up his hands this week. Waved the white flag. Gave up the ghost.

On his weekly radio show Monday night, Gundy declared that OSU has spent $7 million on player payroll the last three years and Oregon spent $40 million last season alone. Or thereabouts. Gundy said some coaches believe the Nike-funded Ducks ought to play non-conference games against teams with similar budgets.

As Oregon coach Dan Lanning noted, OSU opened the season with Tennessee-Martin. What are the Cowboys doing keeping company with the Skyhawks? What’s good for the duck is good for the dander.
