WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — A West Virginia man was arrested Wednesday on 20 felony charges connected to the financial exploitation of elderly victims across Wake County, warrants show.
According to a warrant filed by the Raleigh Police Department, 57-year-old Brian Alexander Taulton of Martinsburg, W.V. is accused of targeting a couple and three individual victims on Feb. 8, 2024, by posing as a driveway paver/repairman and overcharging them for "substandard work".
The scam resulted in the theft of $44,300, with Taulton also allegedly attempted to steal $20,000, according to the warrant.
The warrant shows Taulton is charged with four counts of obtaining property by false pretense, two counts of attempted obtaining property by false pretense, and three counts of exploiting an elder's cap
