Retired Colorado Springs fire Capt. Patrick Rogacki, who died Aug. 1, will have a procession at about 12:30 p.m. Friday, according to a post on social media by the Fire Department.

CSFD is encouraging the community to line the streets along the route to honor Rogacki's life and legacy.

Rogacki served with CSFD from 1979 to 2014 and was part of the department's Wildland Program and High Angle Rescue Program.

As a search group manager with Colorado Task Force 1, he traveled to disasters across the country including ground zero after the 9/11 attacks and the Space Shuttle Columbia crash in 2003.

Rogacki died as a result of a cancer developed from his work at ground zero, according to previous reporting by The Gazette . His death is considered a line of duty death because he was diagnose
