A man is in custody after the El Paso County Sheriff's office said it found four pounds of meth inside a vehicle that it believes is used to transport "large quantities" of illegal drugs, authorities said Friday.

On Aug. 18, deputies spotted a suspicious Chevrolet Sonic with a fake license plate along Interstate 25 during a multi-agency Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement (BATTLE) operation in the evening, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, 26-year-old Jorge Hernandez Ornelas, who allegedly didn't provide a diver's license and gave "multiple inconsistencies" in his statements, the news release states.
