A postal worker allegedly stole dozens of bank cards in the mail as part of a fraudulent crime scheme across some of Sydney's wealthiest suburbs.

Mauro Paul Coluzzi, 56, allegedly swiped cards intended for homes in Edgecliff, Woollahra and Double Bay, later supplying them to two separate organised crime groups.

The Rockdale man was arrested last month following a nine-month operation, with police since alleging he stole cards belonging to 62 people, which were then used to make $1.4 million in fraudulent transactions.

More than $100,000 in purchases has been laid bare by court filings, revealing lavish alleged spending on Apple products, gift cards, tobacco and even roses, according to 9News.
