RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — With students back in school across the Triangle, one local freshman class is celebrating an incredible milestone.
The Class of 2029 at Broughton Global Studies Magnet High School will be the school's 100th graduating class.
On the first week of school, former Broughton High School principal Roy Teel stood in the school library flipping through a yearbook from the 1970s.
"That was me either making the morning or afternoon announcements, with all the hair," he said, chuckling.
Some of the photos in Broughton High School yearbooks date back much further than that—decades beyond what most former students and staff can remember.
"A lot has happened in this building," said Sgt. Duke McDuffie, the Air Force JROTC instructor at Broughton.
