Four residents have been forced to evacuate after a fire ripped through the front of a home and two cars outside a property in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to Alt Street in Smithfield just before 3am where a property and vehicles were in flames.

Officers helped evacuate the residents to safety while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

One neighbour told Channel Seven's Sunrise they heard a loud explosion before fleeing outside to find the car and house lit and immediately called triple zero.

Footage showed damages to a Toyota RAV4 and a Toyota Hiace van in the driveway, with the home left badly scorched on the left side and several windows were shattered.
