WASHINGTON, USA — Classified staff with Evergreen Public Schools have been on strike since early last week, delaying the start of the school year for families by nearly two weeks. On Thursday, members of Evergreen PSE, the union for classified workers in the district, voted on Evergreen Public Schools' latest proposal. However, many union members said they were not happy with the offer.
"I'm voting no. I think it's a slap in the face from the district to offer us a bonus when we're asking for something for year three out of their pockets," said Sami Morris, a paraeducator who originally spoke with KGW on the first day of the strike and checked back in on the day of the vote. She's referring to the longevity payments and payments for retention that some workers would receive, according to
