MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Wisconsin lawmakers joined labor leaders on Thursday in front of the State Capitol to address the nurses’ strike at MercyHealth East Clinic.
Those workers have been on strike since July 2 after a month and a half of negotiations between UAW Local 95 Union and MercyHealth.
Labor leaders said MercyHealth Management has refused to move on patient and employee safety issues.
“We’ve kept and we’ve held the line,” said Enrique Casiano, chairperson for UAW Local 95. “Day after Day, week after week, we’ve stood in the heat, in the rain and on the picket line with the same grit and sacrifice we bring to every patient and every shift.”
Nurses said they are striking for better working conditions, better pay and better benefits.
