NEWBERG, Ore. — The Newberg-Dundee Police Department has arrested two minors in connection with a fire that completely destroyed a historic train trestle at the end of June, according to an updated statement.

The fire happened on June 28. Newberg-Dundee police officers and crews from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to reports of a fire around the 1300 block of Villa Road, finding the train trestle fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The train trestle was a total loss, with estimated repair costs totaling $260,000, police said. It was part of a rail line serviced by the Portland and Western Railroad.
