Several Canberra make-up artists have jetted off to New York Fashion Week to help the models put their best face forward.

The artists are volunteering their time as the world's fashionistas look to the Big Apple for 2026 spring/summer designs.

Among the locals heading to New York is Florian Lau who started her make-up career as a 16-year-old working from the family home in Banks.

From those humble beginnings to the hectic pace of New York Fashion Week is a journey not lost on the now 26-year-old.

"I started doing make-up in my mum's dining room and coming from that to New York is pretty cool. It's a pretty amazing opportunity for Canberrans," Florian said.
