KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - Residents in Kinston are voicing their frustration over a sharp rise in property taxes, after the county completed their property reevaluations in June of this year.

Glenwood Olds, a senior who is disabled, is on a fixed income. He has owned his home in Kinston for 30 years says his property taxes and value have more than tripled.

Tax documents that WITN obtained, reflect that he paid $409.77 in taxes last year, but now owes $1,458.41 in taxes for this year.

Last year, his property value was listed at $25,373 but this year it has more than tripled and is now $103,801.

He says he went to the Lenoir County Tax Office for answers but was told that he missed the appeal window, and would only be able to receive support during next years cycle.
