RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A 47-year-old Reno man was arrested in connection with a Monday, Sept. 1, incident that happened around 1:45 a.m., when a man asleep in bed in the 900 Block of Marsh Avenue in Reno was awoken by an intruder with a partial face covering wielding a machete demanding the homeowner open his safe, according to a Thursday, Sept. 4, Regional Crime Suppression Unit news release.

The intruder tied up the homeowner and fled in the victim’s vehicle, the Reno and Sparks police joint release said.

The report said in addition to the items in the safe, the suspect stole other property from the home.

A short time later, the vehicle was found abandoned.
