NOGALES, Ariz. (KVOA) - Nogales is under a flood watch for the next few days, but Thursday was surprisingly dry as city officials prepped residents for possible severe rain from Tropical Storm Lorena.

"It doesn’t seem that it's going to be as bad as we thought, looks like it’s going east of us, but we shall see," Nogales Jorge Maldonado told News 4 Tucson.

Despite the absence of rain, the threat of a storm still looms over downtown Nogales. Sandbags are lined up in front of several businesses, provided by the city in anticipation of possible rain.

"We alerted everybody, try to stay home, don’t go out unless it’s necessary," Maldonado said. "We put a thing on our city webpage of the bags and everybody’s been doing alerts."
