Abdul Fatawu will be in “optimal condition” when Leicester City return to action against Oxford next weekend after the winger was granted leave from Ghana duty.

Fatawu is training with City during the international break having been left out of the Ghana squad following discussions between the medical teams of his club and country.

Only a few weeks after his return from eight-month injury lay-off, there was concern that playing another couple of games would push his body too much.

The other worry was that playing on an artificial pitch away in Chad would not be good for Fatawu’s knee, with his ACL injury first sustained while playing on a poor surface for Ghana last November.
