CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. ( WWSB ) – A man from Nokomis is facing BUI charges for causing serious bodily harm to a swimmer during a boating festival in May, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Luca Frank Anthony Mascaro, 20, is facing a felony charge of boating under the influence (BUI) causing serious bodily injury. Investigators say he was underage and operating a vessel with a blood alcohol content of 0.124 g/100mL, impairing his ability to safely operate the boat.

The incident happened on May 24 during H2O Water Fest at Gasparilla Sandbar, near Boca Grande in Charlotte County.
