ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Asheville Police Department said a woman was charged after stealing cards from safe in storage unit.

According to the department, officers were called to investigate a report of larceny involving financial cards from a residential storage unit on Roberts Street on Wednesday.

Police said the victim told them that a safe containing financial cars and documents had been stolen, and the cards were used at several local businesses. Officers were able to review security footage showing the suspect using one of the stolen cards at a convenience store on Depot Street.

Officials said the suspect was later identified as 34-year-old Jessica Breanne Awalt. While being arrested, she was found in possession of the stolen cards as well as crack cocaine.
