MARKLE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 7-day-old boy has been identified as the child killed by a family dog in Markle on Thursday.

Jason A. Weaver died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Huntington County Coroner’s Office. His death has been ruled an accident.

First responders were called to a home on North Miller Street on Thursday evening for reports of a dog bite. They arrived to find Weaver in critical condition.

Despite life-saving efforts, he died while being taken to a Fort Wayne hospital.

The coroner’s office also identified the dog involved in the incident as a 5-year-old husky/pit bull mix with “no law enforcement reported instances of aggression.”
