LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A federal court officer overseeing the Flint water settlement said payment instructions will go out in the fall and the official payment portal is not yet open, according to a notice filed Aug. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

This is the largest civil settlement in the state's history.

The Flint Water Settlement Fund is under the sole control of the court and money can be withdrawn only with court approval, the notice states. It adds that the fund is invested as directed by the court and that lawyers, the City of Flint, elected officials and the State of Michigan have no authority over it.
