CITYWIDE — ADVISORS TO MAYOR ERIC ADAMS have been “crafting a plan” for President Donald Trump to nominate Adams to be an ambassador — perhaps to Saudi Arabia — in an attempt to give former Gov. Andrew Cuomo better odds at defeating Democratic challenger Zohan Mamdami in the November mayoral election, The New York Times reported Friday. Meanwhile, CBS News reports that “a close friend and adviser” to Adams speculated that he “will be out of the election within a week.”
In a statement Friday, Adams said he was proud of the work he has done as mayor but added, “While I will always listen if called to serve our country, no formal offers have been made. I am still running for reelection, and my full focus is on the safety and quality of life of every New Yorker.”
