A Meridian man has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat that forced the evacuation of Walmart on 2nd Street earlier this week, authorities said.

Steven Robinson, 36, was booked into the Lauderdale County Jail late Thursday on a charge of false reporting of explosives, according to jail records. His bond was set at $100,000.

The arrest follows Wednesday’s evacuation of Walmart after a handwritten letter was allegedly found on a car in the nearby Lowe’s parking lot, claiming there was an “incendiary device” inside a navy blue van parked at the store. Police said no explosives were located.
