Body of woman recovered from Red River identified

Winnipeg police say the body of a woman recovered from the Red River earlier this week has been identified.

On Sept. 2, just after 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the riverbank near University Crescent and Markham Road. With assistance from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the woman’s body was recovered.

The Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit took over the investigation and notified her family.

Police confirmed the death is not considered criminal in nature.
