Three people have been arrested for allegedly stealing ATMs in Long Beach in July.
The theft attempts, which took place on on July 14 at 6580 Paramount Blvd. and July 15 at 6605 Long Beach Blvd., involved the thieves using a stolen SUV and metal chain to try to dislodge standalone machines from in front of businesses, the Long Beach Police Department said in a news release.
It's a method that's been used elsewhere in Southern California.
In addition, the July 15 incident involved an alleged hit-and-run, as they "struck a female pedestrian with their vehicle and fled the scene without stopping," causing "life-threatening injuries," police said.
