MADISON (WKOW) -- U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin warned Wednesday that Wisconsin families could face steep costs if Affordable Care Act premium tax credits expire at the end of the year.

Baldwin said 30,000 Wisconsinites could lose health coverage without an extension, and other Marketplace customers may see premiums rise by more than 34 percent.

"The enhanced premium tax credit saves more than 230,000 Wisconsinites an average of $500 every month," Baldwin said. "That's nearly a quarter million people in our state saving $6,000 a year on health care."

Baldwin introduced the Health Care Affordability Act earlier this year to permanently extend the credits, which she says give families a fair shot at success and the opportunity to live healthy lives.
