SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A fast-spreading brush fire in Spring Valley has prompted evacuation orders on Friday afternoon.

Cal Fire firefighters were battling a brush fire that broke out near Jamacha Blvd. and Double Tree Road in Spring Valley around 2 p.m. Friday, which was burning at a critical rate of spread, the agency reported.

As of 2:30 p.m., the brush fire -- named the Lodge Fire -- had grown to 20 acres, and an evacuation order was issued for the neighborhood surrounding Doubletree Road and Barbit Road in Spring Valley.

Just 10 minutes later, Cal Fire said the fire had grown to 30 acres with the potential to grow to 200 to 300 acres.
