It was a touching day in Southington on Friday as State Police and other community members honored the life of Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier.

An overpass that spans Interstate 84 is now named the Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier Memorial Bridge.

The bridge is near the spot where Trooper Pelletier lost his life during a traffic stop last year.

Southington was also Pelletier's hometown.

Friday, Pelletier’s wife and children accepted the new bridge plaque named in his honor.
