A Connecticut resident has tested positive for West Nile virus for the first time this season, according to the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
A man in Fairfield County in his 40s tested positive in the third week of August, DPH officials said. He has since recovered.

Last year, 12 people tested positive for West Nile virus in the state. The year before that, seven people tested positive.
“As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors outdoors for the remainder of this summer and into the fall, protecting yourself from mosquito bites is an important step in reducing the risk of West Nile virus infection,” DPH Commissioner Manisha Juthani, MD, said.
