The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has charged a 23-year veteran of the Edmonton Police Service with aggravated assault after he shot a suspect at the end of a 20-minute chaos spree in Edmonton’s west end.

It all started with 911 calls around 7:27 p.m. on March 1, 2024.

Callers reported a stabbing outside a pub near Winterburn Road and 107 Avenue.

Another caller reported at 7:32 p.m. that the suspect fled in a truck, and was being followed in the area of Stony Plain Road and 178 Street by someone who witnessed the stabbing.

That led to reports that the suspect rammed the vehicle following him.

“At one point, the suspect vehicle attempted to make contact with the vehicle following it,” a 2024 EPS news release said.
