ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is releasing new information following a deadly police pursuit that ended with a U-Haul crashing into the Erie Canal, leaving one man dead and another facing serious charges.

Deputies say 56-year-old Reginald Russell and 43-year-old Ryan Armstrong were involved in a shoplifting incident at a Walgreens in Brockport earlier this week. The two men allegedly loaded stolen merchandise into a rented U-Haul box truck and fled the scene, sparking a law enforcement pursuit that ended in Orleans County.
