HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) — Firefighters in Herrin responded to a structure fire in the 1000-block of N. 11th Street on Thursday.

Officers with the Herrin Police Department also responded to the scene. Police said they found a man in the backyard of the home.

Authorities started investigating the matter and police said they developed a suspect. Police then arrested Brian Siebert.

Siebert was taken to the Williamson County Jail and cited with multiple offenses including arson, burglary, possession of burglary tools and criminal damage to property.

Assisting the Herrin Police Department and Herrin Fire Department was the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office, Williamson County Fire Protection District, Marion Fire Department, and Carterville Fire Department.
