CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was in Charlotte on Thursday to promote her book about her life. It is called “The Lovely One.” That is the meaning of her name.

Brown told her story in front of a sold-out crowd at The Carolina Theatre. People waited in line to see and hear the first African American woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

“It’s important for our young people to know our history and our now,” 11th Grader Isaiah Lamb said. “Black History is important. Black young children around the world should be able to get this experience.”

Jackson talked about her family, her rise to the highest court in the land, her challenges while attending Harvard, and how she worked hard to become a Supreme Court Justice.
