(KRON) -- 13 people, four cats and a bird were displaced in a San Jose apartment complex blaze Friday afternoon, said the San Jose Fire Department.
The fire, which was reported at 3:22 p.m., impacted all 10 apartments in the two-story, garden-style building on the 800 block of Deland Avenue, according to SJFD. • Photo courtesy of SJFD. • Photo courtesy of SJFD.
"Four units had majority of fire, smoke, and water damage," said fire officials in a social media post.
SJFD confirmed one resident was assessed by medics but ultimately was not taken to the hospital.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents — including one child — with temporary housing, said SJFD.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
