WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Wake Forest community stood in solidarity for a former Wake County high school principal and high school football coach's wife who was the unintended target in a shooting last Friday.

ABC11 learned that Ericka Ruffin Lucas is still recovering in the hospital, according to family.

While the Cougar's school colors are red, white, and blue, blue has a different meaning this particular night.

Wake Forest High School football coach Reggie Lucas' wife Ericka is recovering after being hit by gunfire meant for someone else.

"It's really important for us to show support and Wake Forest always treat us like a family. And that's really where I think we want to return the favor," said Parent Kevin Barclay.
