LA MIRADA, California — Makita U.S.A., Inc. has recalled nearly 63,000 cordless grease guns and grease gun hoses sold across the U.S. after reports that the flexible hoses can rupture, posing a risk of being gashed, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said .

The recall affects Makita Professional Cordless Grease Guns with model numbers XPG01S1, XPG01SR1 and XPG01Z, as well as Makita Grease Gun Hoses with model numbers 191A79-9, 191A80-4, 191W58-9 and 191W59-7. All recalled hoses feature spring ends, and serial numbers for the affected guns vary by model, CPSC said.

The company has received five reports of hose failures worldwide, resulting in gash injuries, though none have been reported in the U.S.
