PEORIA, Ariz. — A paraprofessional at a state-certified special education school in Peoria was arrested, accused of having sexual contact with a minor.

The Austin Centers for Exceptional Students told 12News in a statement that on Aug. 28, the school learned about a "potential case of misconduct" involving a paraprofessional employee and a high school student. The incident allegedly took place outside of school hours and off campus.

The campus involved, located in Peoria, is one of the multiple Austin Centers locations. The centers are state-certified special education schools for kindergarten through 12th grade and serve students ranging in age from 5 to 22 years old, according to the website.
