CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Carbondale Police say they arrested a man during a traffic stop after officers discovered a stolen firearm in the car.

Investigators say officers pulled over Kerwin J.C. Watson, Jr., 23, of Murphysboro on the 500 block of North Carico Street just before 11 p.m. on September 4.

Officers say that during the traffic stop, they discovered that Watson’s driver’s license was suspended. During the investigation, officers also found a gun that was stolen and an illegal amount of marijuana.

Watson is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of cannabis, and driving while license suspended.

Watson is in the Jackson County Jail until his detention hearing.
