BOWLING GREEN — If these buildings could talk ...

The theater that was home to rousing Rocky Horror Picture Shows. The grill that served awesome omelets and sizzling burgers. The school that once had students pounding up its maze of steps.

The walls are silent in the Cla-Zel Theatre, the Corner Grill, and the South Main School.

The Bowling Green Historic Preservation Commission hopes to give some voice to these structures, at least making sure they still stand years from now.

“Those are buildings that residents have a lot of affection for,” said John Sampen, commission chairman, who has lived in Bowling Green for 50 years.

“I’m concerned about, personally — because I think they’re such a part of our fabric of downtown Bowling Green — the old Corner Grill and the Cla-Zel,” he said.
