World War II ended off the coast of Japan, but the 80th anniversary of its conclusion will be marked in San Bernardino.

The Inland Empire Military Museum plans a Friday, Sept. 12, ceremony to honor World War II veterans and women who contributed to the war effort. The event is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Inland Empire World War II veterans and “Rosies” as well as the general public are welcome to the commemoration of the war’s end on Sept. 3, 1945.

The ceremony aims to “not only thank our veterans, but be reminded of the extent of the conflict and the human toll it cost to end it,” Assistant Curator Ezra Rene Cabral wrote in an email.
