New York state is preparing to launch its fall foliage reports, continuing a tradition that has helped travelers plan their autumn visits for more than 40 years.

The weekly reports will provide detailed information about leaf colors, transition percentages, and peak viewing conditions, which typically occur between late September and mid-November. This initiative is supported by almost 100 volunteers across the state reporting on the color progression.

“There’s simply nothing like autumn in New York,” said Gov. Kathy Hochul, who announced the reports alongside the state’s fall tourism campaign. “Our beautiful, colorful foliage is second to none and provides the perfect backdrop for any fall getaway.”
