LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino and city officials recognized Laredo music artist Damaris Morales during a city council meeting on Tuesday, September 2.

Morales was recently chosen as one of 48 semifinalists worldwide in the international music competition “México Canta por la Paz y Contra las Adicciones.”

The Government of Mexico started the competition to raise awareness about addiction prevention.

Morales’s participation highlights her musical abilities and her dedication to social change through the arts.

Council members emphasized the importance of recognizing the people who represent Laredo with honor and creativity.
