On May 17, 2021, 11-year-old Ryan Larsen was left unattended at La Vista West Elementary School and walked out the front door. His mother, Tammi Larsen, has said that no one made any immediate attempt to get him.
It was the fourth time that school year he had done so, but this time he was never seen again.
His mother later filed a lawsuit against Papillion La Vista Community Schools , claiming negligence, among other things.
