EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Town of Edinburgh recently received two grants for the Downtown Plaza Project, which will serve as a community gathering space to host events such as the farmer’s market.

Over the last two weeks, town officials have been awarded $5,000 from the Mibor Realtor Association’s Community Impact Initiative and $35,000 from the Johnson County Community Foundation’s 2025 Unrestricted Community Needs Grant fund.

The Downtown Plaza Project, a collaboration between the IU Center for Rural Engagement and the Town of Edinburgh, is a planned transformation of a parking lot and adjacent property at 201 W. Main Cross. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026 and be completed by the summer.
