Swarms of people descended on Chicago's Michigan Avenue Saturday afternoon to protest Trump's plans to deploy federal troops to Chicago and ramp up immigration enforcement operations.

Protestors together around 5p.m. at the intersection of Ida B Wells Drive and Michigan Avenue near Chicago's Grant Park.

The large-scale mobilization was organized by two groups, Coalition Against the Trump Agenda and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.

Organizers spoke to the crowd during a rally ahead of the march down Michigan Avenue.

"Trump has spent billions on federal guards and the militarization of our community, pouring money into weapons and intimidation instead of investing in schools, hospitals, jobs and housing," Reverend Ciera Bates-Chamberlain of Live Free Illinois said
