SUFFOLK, Va. — A fatal crash has shut down Nansemond Parkway in Suffolk.

The crash happened in the area of Berwyn Way, near 84 Lumber and New Day Office Furnishings. The crash was a vehicle versus pedestrian and resulted in a fatality, Suffolk police said.

The roadway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time as officers investigate the crash. Drivers should use an alternate route.

There was not yet any information available on the cause of the crash or identification of the deceased.
