WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Thousands were out of power Saturday after storms swept across the state.

More than 5,000 customers were without power according to Eversource's outage map. Outage numbers lessened to 3,100 as of 11 p.m.

In West Hartford, neighbors on Shepard Drive went outside after hearing a loud boom outside of their windows around 4 p.m. where a tree fell. According to residents, they believe the tree was around 150 years old.

Eversource crews worked to clear debris of the tree while the road remained closed. Power lines were also taken down as a result of the downed tree.

While many neighbors were left in the dark for the most of the afternoon into the evening, they say they are staying positive as they wait for power to be restored.
