BBC Breakfast host flooded with support as she bids heartbreaking goodbye

BBC Breakfast presenter Luxmy Gopal had viewers flocking to offer their support after she shared heartbreaking news on Instagram.

The broadcaster - who also features on BBC Look North and BBC London News - revealed in a poignant post that her cherished German Shepherd, Athena, had tragically died.

Luxmy penned: "We've had to say goodbye to dear old Athena, a beloved member of our family for 12 years."

She added, "So sensitively attuned and emotionally intelligent, she seemed almost human at times."

Supporters quickly rallied around her, with one commenting, " I'm so sorry, Luxmy. You played such a large role in the family. Sending love."
