Hearing your phone go off incessantly can sometimes be a cause for alarm. And while the UK Government is testing a system this weekend designed for exactly that, Brits should know in advance that it is simply another test run. ‌

If you need a reminder of when that will take place, well, today, Sunday, September 7, nearly everyone in the UK with a mobile phone or tablet will receive an emergency alert at 3pm, as part of a national government test. ‌

Expect to hear a siren sound (even if your device is on silent), and your phone may also vibrate while a message appears on your screen. This should last around 10 seconds, and your phone will be locked until you acknowledge the warning by pressing 'ok'. ‌
