We jammed right around 25 people of mixed political stripes into a small, fairly hot room Thursday, and I’m happy to report that once again, cooler heads prevailed.

It is amazing what can happen when we share (to quote Jeff Spicoli) “a little feast on our time.”

The event was my third every-other-year-or-so “Pizzapalooza,” where I invite readers of our newspaper to meet for lunch and just talk about anything they’d like to talk about.

As readers of my Aug. 3 column may remember, the first 15 people who responded got invited to this informal little gathering, along with our staff and a couple of VIPs from past such events.

The response blew me away. I had more than 20 responses even before waking up around 6:30 a.m., proving that our readers are not only loyal, they’re incredibly early
