JetBlue has lost a lawsuit against the Florida Department of Revenue over the state's assessment of taxes owed by the airline. A judge has ruled in favor of Florida's claim that JetBlue owes over $630,000 in corporate tax between 2019 and 2021.
The airline had argued that the state tax was calculated based on an area larger than Florida's state boundaries, but the judge upheld the state's method of calculating taxes owed. Florida's method for determining taxes owed involves calculating the number of revenue miles that pass through the "Florida Box," a geographical area that extends beyond state boundaries.
