ANNISTON, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The city of Anniston has awarded a garbage contract to a new company.
According to the Anniston City Council, 121 Disposal Company will take over as the new trash provider for Anniston residents starting Monday, Sept. 29.
Representatives of the city said that the transition to the new provider will not add any additional cost to residents, but it will add additional services.
One of these new services will be weekly curbside pickup for bulk items. Prior to the contract with 121 Disposal Company, the bulk item pickup was done through quarterly roll-off dumpsters in each ward.
Per the city, under the new service, bulk piles are limited to one pile per week per resident. This pile cannot exceed 6 x 6 x 4 feet which is equivalent to five cubic yards.
